These are a few of my favorite, easy pre-workout meal and snack ideas! Before I hit the gym I love to eat simple, wholesome meals centered primarily around carbs and protein. This helps me optimize my performance for strength and bodybuilding-style workouts.

First and foremost, I am a fan of REAL foods. Supplements are meant to supplement your diet in addition to real foods. NOT to replace it.
Additionally, although I AM a fan of fats in my diet, pre and post workout are the two times I don’t include fat. The reason is I don’t want to slow down the absorption and digestion of my nutrients which the fats will do (a good thing other times!)
Pre and post workout I love to use WHEY because it is fast digesting and a piece of fruit. I do this because I want the FAST digesting protein and the fructose from the fruit.
Other proteins like egg, casein and blends are slower digesting and longer lasting but NOT ideal pre post workout when I want them to fuel my muscles quickly. For more on PROTEIN POWDERS, the differences and what I personally use go HERE: http://NatalieJillFitness.com/protein
PRE WORKOUT what I DO and suggest is whey mixed with water and a piece of fruit.
For that energy boost, I AM a fan of caffeine. It WILL help to speed up your metabolism, it WILL increase your focus and it will give you that pre workout energy boost. I suggest black coffee, TEA or natural supplements with just b vitamins and caffeine. The one I use and suggest is the e+ shot. You can learn more about it HERE: http://njfit.isagenix.com/en-US/produ…
The whey I featured in this video and use is the Jay Robb Protein: http://JayRobb.com

What I eat in a day to stay fit | High Carbs | Healthy | Pre and Post workout Meals | Fitness Meals | Fitness Diet | High Carbs for Workout Days | Build Lean Muscle Diet | Diet for lean muscle building
Hi guys! I am currently in Italy so I may be a little late in response but please do leave me a comment so I can get back to it later!
So for workout days, especially intense workout days. I eat substantial amount of carbs before and after my workout. It is crucial for muscle recovery and also gives you energy before the workout. You want to be able to lift the weights that you want to lift. If you don’t have sufficient energy, you won’t be able to do that and hence won’t be able to build as much muscle. If you’re looking to build more muscles then you also need to be on caloric surplus. I am probably on the surplus on this particular day but I haven”t been counting calories recently. I only count calories if I have a goal to reach but I was more to maintaining at this point. So yeah I hope this helps to give you some ideas. These are the days that I really don’t have time to cook and so I prep my meals in advance and just heat it up when I want to eat it.
It is also very important to heat up rice before eating them because they can cause food poisoning. It is best to have fresh rice and for left overs, you’ll have to refrigerate it and heat it up the next day, and you shouldn’t keep rice for more than a day. Read more here.
