Tips On Controlling Diabetes With Diet And Exercise

http://goo.gl/QCJ9b0 – How to reverse diabetes! Turns out, the diabetes industry is selling us fake research!

Hi! I’m robo-Suzie and today I’ll talk to you about Tips On Controlling Diabetes With Diet And Exercise.
Also don’t forget to check out the link below, to find out, how this guy reversed his diabetes! Turns out, the diabetes industry is selling us fake research!
But back to our topic.

Controlling diabetes with diet and exercise is something that every diabetic is tasked with because the alternative is bleak. Medications or insulin shots can only do so much. Diet and exercise allow you to lessen the effects of diabetes on your body and life and help you thrive even with this diagnosis. In the case of type 2 diabetes, diet and exercise may even allow you to reverse this type of diabetes. Get in the game. Fight for your life and health. Diet and exercise is the best way to accomplish this.

The Outlook is Bleak.

Not taking a proactive approach to diabetes treatment will lead to kidney disease, heart disease, blindness, high blood pressure, stroke, infections and wounds that are slow to heal or never heal, limb amputation and even falling into a diabetic coma when severe. Controlling diabetes with diet and exercise is one of the best ways to ensure that this is not your present and future.

But you need not be afraid or feel powerless because simple changes to your lifestyle can produce amazing results and you will be able to live a long and productive life even if you have the more serious type 1 diabetes which is not curable or preventable.

1. Controlling Diabetes with Diet.

The word “diet” has such negative connotations and at the mere mention of it, many people recoil. At the mention of the word, most people think it means that you won’t be able to eat anything you like, or anything delicious, or will be starving and so forth.

But when a diet for diabetes is talked about, it simply means a well thought out plan for eating. In some cases, you may even be able to still eat some “bad” foods on occasion as long as you are aware of how they will impact your diabetic eating plan and what adjustments you may need to make when you eat these “bad” foods so that your blood sugar levels do not go crazy and cause you problems.

In addition, creating a proper diabetes eating plan will help you get a better understanding of how various foods impact blood sugar levels which will help you make the decision on which foods to eliminate and which to include. For instance, soft drinks, refined grains, etc, have been shown to increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and also increasing inflammation in the body. Knowing this will help you make the choice to eliminate soft drinks (regular and diet) and hopefully encourage you to drink more water and to select complex carbs in placed of processed foods made from refined grains.

It is important to remember that a healing diabetes diet will vary from one diabetic to another. You have to find the diet that will work for you. Some diabetics may be able to eat certain foods whereas another many have to eliminate that food. There isn’t one diet that will work in all cases. One may need to follow a low fat, high carbohydrate diet while another may need to follow a low carbohydrate, high vegetable diet, etc. Find what works for you.

While you may be confused about what to eat and what to avoid, you should be prepared to experiment with various recommended foods to see which ones raise your blood sugar levels and which ones help to normalize it.

To find which foods are best for controlling blood sugar, you need to monitor your blood sugar levels for a period of time such as two to three weeks. Measure your blood glucose levels first thing in the morning, after breakfast, after meals as well as snacks and also before you go to bed. Also measure the sugar levels before and after physical activity.

Once you have an understanding of how your blood sugar levels are affected, you will then be in a better position to create a diet plan that works for you and helps heal your body naturally.

2. Controlling Diabetes with Exercise.

The other aspect of controlling diabetes is exercise. It is amazing how effective exercise can be against type 2 diabetes especially. The best thing you can do against diabetes is exercise. It is also the least expensive when you consider how much you have to spend on diabetes medications, insulin injections, etc. Effective exercise can be as simple as a walk or run, swimming, dancing, cycling, etc.

6. SOUNDBITE: (English): Tamikka McCray, former diabetes patient
“I was in the hospital, we have to look at the chart, maybe, I was in here four days. And I’ve never been on any, I haven’t been on anything since. No insulin, I was on Lantus, Novolog, then they had me on Humalog, then I had the Glucophage 500 twice a day, then at one point they brought that up, then they gave me another extra pill because my sugars were always consistently no matter what I ate it would spike it.”

“Well for a long time surgery has been seen, bariatric surgery, has been seen as a last resort for treating severely obese patients and primarily has been seen as a weight loss intervention. I think the studies being published this week, and the research that has led to those studies, basically suggest we should regard surgery as a diabetes treatment, not as a weight loss intervention.”

11. SOUNDBITE: (English): Francesco Rubino, Chief of Metabolic Surgery, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center:
“The stomach and intestines are not just a conduit for nutrients but is basically an endocrine organ that controls metabolism very powerfully. So when you change the anatomy of this organ, you change the way hormones regulate metabolic pathways and therefore results in improvements in body weight, diabetes, hyperglycaemia and many other things.”
12. Mid of surgery department at the hospital
STORYLINE:
New research in the US gives clear proof that weight-loss surgery can reverse and possibly cure diabetes, and doctors say it should be offered sooner to more people with the disease – not just as a last resort.
The two studies, released on Monday, are the first to compare stomach-reducing operations to medicines alone for “diabesity” – Type 2 diabetes brought on by obesity.
Millions of Americans have this and cannot make enough insulin or use what they do make to process sugar from food.
Both studies found that surgery helped far more patients achieve normal blood-sugar levels than medicines alone did.
The results were dramatic.
Some people were able to stop taking insulin as soon as three days after their operations.
Cholesterol and other heart risk factors also greatly improved.
Doctors do not like to say “cure” because they cannot promise a disease will never come back.
But in one study, most surgery patients were able to stop all diabetes drugs and have their condition stay in remission for at least two years.
None of those treated with medicines alone could do that.
New York resident Tamikka McCray was one of the surgery patients.
The 39-year-old, who works for the city’s department of human services, struggled with obesity for years, like much of her family
So as a last resort, in August of 2010, she underwent weight loss surgery.

Studies show weight loss surgery can reverse diabetes

Studies show weight loss surgery can reverse diabetes

Diabetes effects all body and organ systems. It’s the number one cause of blindness, amputations and kidney failure. Some studies show that weight loss surgery can reverse diabetes and the complications associated with it.

Approximately 70 percent of patients who are on insulin going into weight loss surgery will come off of their insulin completely following the procedure, specifically with gastric bypass.

Gastric bypass surgery involves creating a small two-ounce pouch out of the stomach and diverting the first 3 feet of the intestines so that they are bypassed and do not absorb as much of what you eat. It also restricts the amount of food you can eat because of the small size of the pouch.

Anyone who has a Body Mass Index, or BMI, of more than 40 can be considered a candidate for weight loss surgery. You can also be considered if you have a BMI of more than 35 with co-morbidities, such as diabetes or hypertension.

In addition to diabetes, weight loss surgery has been shown to improve migraine headaches, urinary incontinence and osteoarthritis. It may also reduce the risk for certain types of cancer.
