In this video I wanted to talk about foods I keep in my diet to help my health! If there is anyone reading this trying to work more healthy foods into their diet, these five foods are for you. Also in this video I will discuss how you can gauge the source of the food you buy by looking at the route it takes from where the location of where it’s sourced, all the way to your dinner plate. The quality of the source is the underlying factor of all healthy dieting. Here are a few things I want you guys to know from the video:
TYPES OF FATS TALKED ABOUT:
1.) Unsaturated Fats – Fat molecules that possess 1 unsaturated carbon bond (double bond). MONO-unsatured fats are fatty acids that contain at least 1 double bond. POLY-unsaturated will always contain more than 1. These fats are typically liquid at room temperature and solid when chilled. Present in every food mentioned in the video.
2.) Saturated Fats – Chain of fats that possess no double bonds between carbon molecules because they are saturated with hydrogen molecules. Typically solid at room temperature. Present in a lot of red meats and dairy.
3.) Trans Fats – Artificial trans fatty acids that are created through an industrial process that adds hydrogen to liquid vegetable oils to make them more solid.
HERE’S A FAT TIP:
Trans fat can be hidden behind the name of “partially hydrogenated oils”. (OH THE FDA IS SO SNEAKY!) Always. Check. The ingredients. In your food.
Replace foods in your diet that are high in saturated and trans fats with foods made with healthy fats that possess health benefits, like:
1. EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
-Better for you than than refined olive oils.
-Fights inflammation (all of these foods will).
-Possesses vitamins + minerals for immune system.
-Quality source of omega-fatty acids.
-Strong source of monounsaturated fat.
2. EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL
-Better than refined coconut oils.
-Promotes hair, skin, health.
-Good to aid oral hygiene (oil pulling).
-Strong in monounsaturated fat.
-Contains lauric acid, which raises LDL & HDL (low and high density lipoproteins that carry cholesterol to and from the cell) cholesterol levels.
-Strong source of fiber, Vitamins C & K, and B6.
-High in potassium, lutein and folate.
-Half an avocado contains 15 grams of heart-healthy unsaturated fat, and only 2 grams saturated fat.
-One avocado contains more than 1/3 our daily requirement of vitamin C, and more than 1/2 the day’s requirements of vitamin K.
-1 Word: Guac
4. NUTS & SEEDS
-Strong source of monounsaturated fat.
-High in protein, fiber and antioxidants.
-Clutch source of protein for vegan/plant-based/vegetarian lifestyles.
-Clutch to boost your energy and effectiveness.
-Dense in calories.
5. WILD-CAUGHT SALMON
-Farmed salmon will be lighter in color (usually between light pink and
orange) with whiter stripes. (not saying you can’t eat farmed salmon but I’m just saying- i don’t feature farmed salmon in my diet)
-Wild-caught salmon is a much darker cut, much leaner cut, much cleaner cut, and the stripes are not as apparent.
-High source of polyunsaturated fat
-Solid source of protein and omega-fatty acids.
-Promotes a healthy brain (all of these foods containing healthy fats do, but W.C.S is among the strongest).
1 MORE FAT TIP:
Regardless of what method you use to cook your food, make sure you don’t OVERHEAT or OVERCOOK your food to the point where you cook away all the nutrients!

Check regularly for sores or blisters and talk to your doctor right away if one of your sores doesn’t heal.
3. Fill your friends and family in on your condition and your deit for diabetes type 2. The more they know, the more they will be able to take care of you and help you. Educated people are the best way to prevent a tragedy when your blood sugars dip too low.
4. Keep up with the scientific literature on diabetes and different type 2 diabetic diet plans. There are journals written for laymen that inform you of new treatments. If you hear about a treatment that you think will work for you, talk to your healthcare team.
5. Take your medication regularly. When you take it, take it as it was prescribed. Don’t take any medications without talking to your doctor first.
6. Deal with mental health issues. In some cases, people with diabetes may become depressed. Take the time to talk to a professional before things get out of hand.
7. Regularly test your blood glucose levels. It’s the best way to detect problems. Maintain your routine no matter what else is happening in your life.
8. Get plenty of exercise. Find out from your physician what your limits are and go for it. In most cases, you want to do exercises that will raise your heart rate on a daily basis.
9. Eat every few hours to maintain your blood sugar levels. Eating small amounts of food several times a day is recommended. Include healthy snacks.
10. Finally, make healthy food choices. Your diet should include foods high in fiber and lots of fresh vegetables. Keep a close eye on portion size.
After overhauling my diet completely, I’ve certainly learned a great deal about how to eat healthily. In this post, I’m going to share some of the best tips I’ve discovered when it comes to maintaining a healthy diet, so let’s get to it.
1 – Drink more water
Having a tall glass of water each morning has really helped to keep me full after having a smaller breakfast, and drinking a glass of water before each meal also makes it much easier to feel sated, even during a calorie deficit. It’s safe to say that drinking more water has been my secret weapon for shedding those last few stubborn pounds that never seem to budge!
2 – Buy wholemeal
I love having a sandwich for my lunch break, and even since I’ve switched to wholemeal instead of white bread, I’ve really noticed the benefits. The added fiber makes me feel fuller for longer, and wholemeal is chock-full of healthy vitamins and minerals, so I feel fantastic for making the switch.
3 – Snack on nuts
There’s no denying that I love my snack foods, but ever since I’ve replaced the candy bars with a handful of nuts, I’ve really noticed my energy improving, and the weight loss has also improved, too!
