Helping People off Addictions through Nutrition

Joanie Blaxter speaks about helping people recover from drug and alcohol addictions through healthy food, supplements and nutrition, instead of changing their biochemistry through more drugs.

Blaxter is the Ventura Chapter Leader of the Weston A. Price Foundation, which is a nonprofit, tax-exempt nutrition education foundation.

She also discusses adrenal exhaustion, serotonin deficiencies and especially Pyroluria, including a simple nutritional remedy, which includes use of vitamin B6 and zinc.

Scientists know that serotonin is involved in making people with depression feel sad, but not exactly how.

Pyroluria could be described as the abnormal synthesis and metabolism of the oxygen carrying molecule in blood, called hemoglobin. Pyroluria inhibits zinc and vitamin B6, as well as other nutrients, rendering these unavailable to your body.

Blaxter emphasizes the importance of animal fat in health, stating that it’s fat that stabilizes blood sugar levels.

She further states that it’s not fat that makes people overweight, it’s carbs and sugars.

She also touches on cortisol and its relation to the adrenal gland. Cortisol is a hormone that aids stress response and has many other important functions.

The Weston A. Price Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated nonindustrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price’s research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats.

The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community-supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting and nurturing therapies. Specific goals include establishment of universal access to clean, certified raw milk and a ban on the use of soy formula for infants.

Improving your health through Nutrition.
Are you Sick and Tired of being sick and tired? Then this is a MUST WATCH for you!!!
This week’s special guest Jim Marlowe has been studying nutrition for Almost 40 years and was the chief Nutritionist for Dr.Mercola for 7 years. He started studying nutrition in 1977, at the age of 20, because he reached a point where he was ‘sick & tired of being sick & tired’ all the time. He had been a very sickly infant & child and he suffered from a long list of chronic ailments for those first 20 years of his life.

Because the drugs & other treatments prescribed to him by conventional medical doctors almost always made him feel worse, by the age of 20, he was ready for a big change. A change for the better began when he decided to take responsibility for his own health by beginning to educate himself about nutrition and the other fundamentals of health. Jim eventually learned how to achieve and sustain a very high level of vibrant health.

He has been helping other people improve their health through nutrition on a professional level for 27 years. From 1998 to 2007, he worked as the chief nutritionist at different,
nutritionally oriented and busy medical clinics. Jim has a passion for empowering people to know how to improve their health through nutrition.

More specifically, he teaches people about what he calls – ‘The Ten Fundamental Principles of the
Art of Nutrition’ and helps them to develop their ‘nutritional intelligence’. Jim faithfully practices what he teaches about eating and living healthy.

Jim is available for private consultations and can be reached at : 773-506-7247 or email Jim at :

Increasing Longevity Through Better Nutrition | Healthy Foods to Eat for Healthy Living

Increasing Longevity Through Better Nutrition | Healthy Foods to Eat for Healthy Living

Check out the other information about NUTRITION: (The Simple Superfoods)

In an archipelago southwest of Japan, lies the island of Okinawa, which is home to the healthiest population of centenarians (people over 100 years old) on earth. They suffer fewer instances of cancer, diabetes and heart attacks. Their secrets include a more nutrient based diet and less stressful living.

Okinawan centenarians stay lean by eating fewer calories than they burn off during the day. They maintain a healthy weight. For them, meals are a social event where the focus is on the social interaction and not the food itself. They eat until they are almost full before they get stuffed.

It takes 20 minutes for the body to signal to the brain that is it full. Americans like to eat until they are stuffed. You can use a hunger rating system to monitor your level of satisfaction. During a meal, rate your hunger on a scale of 1 to 5- (1 is famished and 5 is stuffed.) By just taking the time to think about how you actually feel, you are less likely to overeat.

3 Tips To Bust Through Your Weight Loss Plateau In 7 Days

Do you hate plateaus as much as I do?

If you’ve been working out for any length of time, then my guess is you do. And, for those of you who have just started working out or have been lucky enough to avoid them, it’s only a matter of time.

Don’t worry they happen to even the very best athletes in the world.

However, when you are prepared for something it’s far less likely to effect you.

The following three tips will help you shake off just about any plateau you can think of. These are the same tips I use, over and over again with my clients, so I know they will prove to be successful if you follow them.

1. Write Down Your Workout

Stay prepared. Get into the habit of writing down your entire routine before setting foot in the gym, popping in that workout DVD, or gearing up for your training session. Include every detail; reps, sets, weight, and rest.

Not only will you train with laser focus and intensity, you will also get your workout done in less time, leaving you with more time to enjoy your other favorite activities.

2. Change Up Your Routine

a. Increase “Volume”

Increase the volume of your workout by training longer. Keyword “training”. Not walking around aimlessly. Again write down your workout. I only recommend increasing the volume of your workout if you are training for less than one hour. Start with an increase of 15-20%.

b. Increase “Density”

Increase the density of your workout by doing more in the same amount of time.
Or by performing the same amount (load) in less time. You can always increase the density.

I am a big believer in workouts with less rest built into them. That is essentially how you increase the density of any given workout.

This is how you rev-up your metabolism too.

You can change up your routine; increase “Volume” and or “Density” by manipulating any one or more of the following:

Time in between sets (rest)

Adhere to the volume/density principals and you will be able to push through any barrier big or small. By manipulating your reps, sets, weight, and rest time you keep your muscles guessing.

And, if you have seen or heard me say in one of my other videos or eBooks, you know on the training side everything revolves around the “keep your muscles guessing, keep your muscles growing and changing” philosophy.

The last and possibly the most important tip revolves around your diet.

3. Take a Hard Look at Your Diet

Eliminate that one thing from your diet that you know needs to go.

We all have that one thing in our diet that’s very difficult for us to give up. For me it was a cranberry orange muffin every morning with my coffee. I think I had this particular muffin with my coffee for 180 days straight.

I was addicted. It was the very last thing to go. It was hard, but so worth it. I found a substitute to take its place.

Now every morning with my coffee I have an Rx Bar, my favorite bar on this side of Kentucky – haha! No serious these bars are the best all-natural bars I’ve ever tasted.

Moral of the story… Whatever your thing is, give it up for at least the next 7 days. You’ll be glad you did.

If you are stuck, maybe the scale isn’t tipping, you can’t put on any mass, or maybe you just can’t seem to get any stronger. Regardless of the plateau, I can assure you by implementing these 3 things you will bust through your plateau in no time. It won’t even seem like a plateau.

What’s your biggest hurdle or plateau at the moment and are you prepared to flat out crush it?
